The Global Esports Federation (GEF) and MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, have joined forces in a content-focused partnership, marking MGM Alternative’s entry into the esports industry. The collaboration aims to produce content surrounding the Global Esports Games, esports players, and the broader industry.
The agreement encompasses the creation of both linear and streaming content, along with live events within the GEF’s esports conventions and events. Leveraging MGM Alternative’s expertise in television projects like Shark Tank and The Voice, the content will target gamers and a wider audience leading up to the 2024 Global Esports Games in China.
The 2023 Global Esports Games, hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, featured over 950 esports athletes representing 100 nations across various titles. Following the 2024 event, the Global Esports Games are scheduled for the United Arab Emirates in 2025, the USA in 2026, and Qatar in 2027.
This partnership is the first major deal for the GEF since establishing a new executive team in January, part of several key updates to its organizational structure. Paul J Foster, CEO of the Global Esports Federation, expressed excitement about the collaboration with MGM Alternative, emphasizing its potential to amplify the voices of diverse esports athletes and showcase their compelling stories worldwide, providing an innovative platform for the esports community’s growth and value.
