Nwabali goes nowhere, remains with Chippa United FC, says agent
2 min readNnamdi Nwaeze, the agent of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, stated that his client has an ongoing contract with Chippa United amidst transfer rumors to other clubs.
Nwaeze, who first discovered Nwabali in Rivers State, Nigeria during a local football tournament, noted that the Super Eagles shot-stopper, who impressed football enthusiasts at the 2023 AFCON, is well-regarded at his club in South Africa.
According to him, Nwabali has always been an excellent goalkeeper, from his days at Go-Round FC to top NPFL clubs such as Enyimba FC, Lobi Stars, and Katsina United, among others.
The agent, born in Ohaofia-Agba, Ebonyi State, added that Nwabali is a divine project who has consistently believed in himself to become a top-class goalkeeper.
“The threats are not a problem. Chippa’s fans love him and have been sending lots of messages that they can’t wait to have him back. The threat is not as significant as the media speculated.
“In terms of moving, the decision lies with the club because he has a contract with Chippa United.
“He just signed a three-year contract. It is something we will discuss with the Chairman of Chippa United on whether he stays or moves.
“Chippa United has much decision to make because he has a contract with them.
“Nwabali is a divine project that took some time to come to the limelight. It’s been a while since we know each other, but one thing about him is that from day one, he always believed in himself, his quality.
“Apart from when he wanted to move from Go-Round to Enyimba, he saw the quality of goalkeepers there and was a bit afraid, but I tried to encourage him that he has all it takes and that he must go to Enyimba.
“Then he picked up courage and believed in himself and never doubted his ability, and I know from time that one day Nwabali will become a national goalkeeper because he has all it takes to be a top-class goalkeeper. I never knew this AFCON is the tournament for him to break out.
“This AFCON wasn’t the first time Nwabali is representing Nigeria at the international level. Apart from being an Enyimba goalkeeper, he went a season without defeat at Enyimba because of Nwabali.
“Salisu Yusfu was the first man that picked interest in Nwabali and invited him to the national team for the Home-Based Super Eagles. Then he was with Katsina United. Since he left for Chippa United, they no longer consider him as a Home-Based player.
“Before now, some of the Super Eagles coaches knew him very well. It wasn’t that difficult to convince Jose Peseiro since we are having goalkeeper issues and that we have someone in South Africa who can help solve this problem.”
